Apple has removed three dating apps from the App Store after they were found to allow kids under the age of 13 to sign up. All three of the apps were operated by a Ukraine-based company called Wildec. According to a report from CNBC, the Federal Trade Commission issued a warning to Wildec, explaining that the apps appeared to violate the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Referred to as COPPA, this requires companies to obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from kids under the age of 13....

Apple today published a report on its website detailing the “Economic and Fiscal Impacts Generated by Apple in Cupertino – Current Facilities and Apple Campus 2.” Apple notes that the report, which details a number of topics from job creation to construction of its new spaceship campus, was put together by Keyser Marston Associates, Inc. (KMA) for the City of Cupertino under contract with Apple Inc. Much of the report focuses on the economic impacts and future contributions of Apple’s currently under construction Apple Campus 2....

In a recent change to its iCloud syncing service, Apple has raised the total number of contacts it will store and sync across your devices before hitting the maximum allowed. Previously iCloud enforced a hard limit of syncing 25,000 contacts, but an updated support document (via iFun.de) highlights that limit doubling now to a total of 50,000 contacts… Apple states that exceeding the limit may cause iCloud to experience “issues keeping changes up to date across your devices,” advising that users stay within the doubled contacts limit as well as other limits for calendars, reminders, and Safari bookmarks....

Apple has released the first iOS 12 public beta for iPhone and iPad — which means more Memoji for the iPhone X users! This allows users who are not registered developers to test pre-release versions of iOS with new features for free (and a few bugs). Prior to the public beta availability, iOS 12 has only been available to test with a $99/year developer account. In terms of stability, the same warnings apply to any pre-release software so you should proceed with caution....

Earlier today, Apple released the fourth betas of macOS 10.12.5 and iOS 10.3.2 to developers. Now, the company has released the betas to public beta testers too, as it usually does following the initial release to developers… macOS 10.12.5 is a minor update and focuses on bug fixes and security improvements. The update comes following the more significant update of macOS 10.12.4, which brought Apple’s color shifting Night Shift feature to the Mac for the first time....

Apple has just seeded the first iOS 10.1 beta for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This follows the public release of iOS 10 from just last week. It has also seeded the first update to watchOS 3; watchOS 3.1. There is also a bug fix for tvOS being seeded; tvOS 10.0.1. iOS 10.1 includes the bokeh depth-of-field Portrait feature for the iPhone 7 Plus, which allows users to take pictures of people and have the phone synthetically blur the background....

Apple has released a notable supplemental update to macOS Catalina 10.15.4 today. The update brings a FaceTime bug fix, MacBook Air 2020 improvements, and more. Apple announced at WWDC in June that Apple Pay would be coming to Spain at some point this year, and Spanish site Applesfera is reporting that the service will launch tomorrow for Banco Santander customers. The mobile payment system Apple Pay will definitely come to Spain this Thursday, December 1, for Banco Santander customers. Several sources have confirmed to Applesfera that – barring any last-minute changes – the rollout date will be tomorrow … The site implies that its sources are within the bank, rather than Apple....

Apple has debuted a new marketing tool for podcasters today. Through the Apple Podcasts Marketing Tools website, podcasters can now create new embeddable web players for their shows as well as individual episodes. Through the marketing website, podcasters can create a custom embeddable player that includes the most recent episodes of their podcast. The player is fully interactive, so people can click or tap on an episode to list to it without going to another webpage or app....

A little under a week after releasing its second beta, Apple has released the third developer beta of iOS 9.3.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 9.3.2 appears to be a smaller update compared to the past significant iOS 9.3 update that brought about features such as Night Shift and Touch ID notes. iOS 9.3.2 Beta 3 release notes are not yet available through Apple’s Developer Center, but the update is propagating to iOS devices now....

Apple closed the majority of its 510 retail stores on March 13th following deteriorating public health due to the coronavirus outbreak. The company originally planned to begin reopening stores by March 27th, but rapidly changing conditions necessitated extended closures. O’Brien’s message to store teams notes that Apple now anticipates some stores may be able to reopen in the first half of April. Local conditions will be assessed on a store-by-store basis to ensure the safety of team members and customers....

It seems scarcely a week goes by without Apple and Qualcomm facing off in court, and the latest trial kicks off today in San Diego. Qualcomm alleges that iPhones with Intel radio chips violate three of its patents, and it is seeking damages amounting to $1.41 per iPhone … Reuters reports that the trial is scheduled to last for eight days. Apple has released OS X Yosemite GM Candidate 1.0 for developers via the Mac App Store today. Candidate 1.0 of OS X Yosemite GM follows the release of the first iOS 8.1 beta to developers yesterday and Yosemite Developer Preview 8 two weeks ago. In addition to the release of iOS 14 beta 2, Apple today has also released watchOS 7 beta 2 to developers. watchOS 7 includes new features such as sleep tracking, new watch face features, fitness improvements, and more. Today’s release brings additional refinement to these features. watchOS 7 beta 2 can be installed by developers through the companion Apple Watch app on iPhone, or by heading to the Settings app on the Apple Watch itself....

According to Israeli publication Calcalist.co.il, Apple has purchased PrimeSense, the company behind the original Microsoft Kinect’s technology somewhere near a valuation in the $345M range. According to the report, a delegation of PrimeSense senior executives visited Apple’s engineering offices in recent days. The purchase would bolster Apple’s living room TV interface offerings and allow Apple to add controls with body movements and hand gestures to its products. Calcalist reported in July that Apple was mulling a purchase for somewhere in the neighborhood of $280M....

Apple Pay is now an accepted form of payment for donations made through Elbi. The philanthropic app created by model Natalia Vodianova lets users “love” charities and causes which prompts micro donations. In return, users receive LoveCoins that can be redeemed for items including Beats by Dre products. Elbi officially announced Apple Pay support today alongside a new ElbiDrop feature following an initial rollout a few weeks ago. Apple Pay in apps makes transactions super simple and secure on supported iPhones and iPads....

Apple hopes that its Apple Pay mobile payment platform can help ease the process of buying drinks at concert festivals everywhere. According to a new report from TechCrunch, Apple Pay powered an “order ahead” feature at last week’s BottleRock music festival near San Francisco… The feature allowed Apple Pay users to skip the lines when it came time to order a drink. Instead of having to wait in a long and slow-moving line, and miss the show, users could use the BottleRock festival application to place their drink order from their iPhone and checkout with Apple Pay....

Back in 2016, it was reported that Apple planned to create a new UK campus in the iconic Battersea Power Station along the Thames. Now, The Times reports that Apple has started to make contingency plans out of fear its new British headquarters could be delayed. Currently, Apple houses roughly 1,400 employees across eight different sites across London. With its new Battersea Power Station headquarters, however, the company will be able to put everyone at the same location....

Apple has reached a deal to lease a new office in the South of Ireland, more specifically in Cork city. With over 36,000 square feet, the building will have enough space for another 350 to 400 additional employees in the country. As reported by the Irish Examiner, the high-spec, energy-efficient building is ready for occupation and overlooks the River Lee: If Apple wants, the company has options for further space if and when required, as the building will have 300,000 square feet of offices in all....
