Apple developers have been receiving emails today inviting them to try out Apple’s new Bug Reporter beta. Bug Reporter, also known as Radar, is a bug filing tool used by developers to share feedback with Apple on the latest software. Spotted by Steven Stroughton-Smith, the invitation also includes notes that feedback about the beta version of Bug Reporter should be shared within Bug Reporter. The Bug Reporter beta announced today comes with an overall visual change bringing a focus to filing bugs quicker....

Earlier this week Apple stated that Apple Pay is off to a “great start” following its launch nearly a year ago, seeing double-digit growth in transactions every month. Now, it looks as if Apple has inked a deal that will greatly expand the presence of its mobile payments solution. Speaking at Re/code’s Code/Mobile conference today, Apple Pay head Jennifer Bailey announced that Starbucks will soon begin accepting the payment method in its 7,500 locations....

The world renowned iPhone maker Apple Inc is receiving criticism from a China consumer group over reports of a data security break that has affected a big number of Chinese Apple consumers who have had to suffer financial loss due to their Apple Id being hacked. Apple excepted earlier this month of a security break that affected a “small amount of consumers”. They also confirmed an internal investigation is taking place to know how this phishing scam was not detected in time, at the same time telling the consumers affected were the ones who didn’t have their two-factor authentication enabled....

Apple has released the third iOS 10.1 beta which includes the Portrait camera for iPhone 7 Plus that applies a DSLR-like blur effect over photos using the dual lens system. iOS 10.1 beta 3 is available to registered developers. A public beta of iOS 10.1 for non-developers is also currently active. tvOS 10.0.1 beta 3 for Apple TV is also available for developers. Portrait mode is a feature that was demonstrated at Apple’s keynote earlier this month, but the major new feature wasn’t ready for primetime when the iPhone 7 Plus initially launched....

Apple has already ported over popular Mac apps like Photo Booth, iWork, and Garageband to the iPad’s touch interface and now it looks like Apple is working on a new app: iWeb for iPad. Patently Apple discovered the patent, which details iWeb for iPad as an application “designed to work with gestures.” We picture gestures like those found in iWork: pinch to resize, swiping, etc. Details are scarce at this point but to us iWeb for iPad makes perfect sense....

Tim Cook has sent out an internal email to Apple employees informing them of a celebration of Steve Jobs’ life planned for October 19th in the outdoor amphitheater of Apple’s Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino. Team, Like many of you, I have experienced the saddest days of my lifetime and shed many tears during the past week. But I’ve found some comfort in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius....

Apple today has pushed an update to iCloud for Windows, bringing the app to version 7.8.1. The update comes after users reported major compatibility issues between iCloud for Windows and the latest Windows 10 October 2018 update, affecting things such as Photos syncing and many other features. As we reported last weekend, Microsoft and Apple were working together to resolve the compatibility issues. Essentially, users trying to install iCloud for Windows on the latest Windows 10 build would see an error message, while those who already had the app installed experienced numerous issues with Photos syncing and more....

Following yesterday’s release to developers, Apple has released macOS Big Sur 11.3 beta 2 to public beta testers today. The update includes several notable changes and new features. It was an update day yesterday for Apple. Having released an updated version of MobileMe Control Panel for Windows that added compatibility with the new MobileMe Calendar backend in Outlook for Windows, Apple also unleashed Snow Leopard Font Update and iPhoto 9.1.2. The former, available as a standalone installer here, contains fixes for Snow Leopard 10.6.7 that “address issues displaying and printing certain OpenType fonts”, per Apple’s release notes. iPhoto 9....

Apple today has released watchOS 4.0.1 to Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular users. The update comes two weeks following the release of watchOS 4. The update is available now to Apple Watch users and specifically contains a fix for cellular Series 3 models… The update fixes an issue that plagued some cellular Apple Watch Series 3 users when Apple Watch would attempt to join unauthenticated public WiFi networks. Apple is also currently in the process of beta testing watchOS 4....

We’re now more than a year and a half out from the launch of Apple Pay — Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch-based mobile payment system — in the US, and we’re still seeing additional banks across the country regularly join the roster of participating partners. More than 20 new banks have added Apple Pay support in this round, and a new prepaid card launching in the UK today has also made the list....

Alongside the iOS 8 kerfuffle, Apple has posted some new downloads for developers too. OS X Server 4.0 Developer Preview is the latest seed of Yosemite Server and Xcode 6.0.1 is the latest version of the Apple IDE. Xcode 6.0.1 is the version of Apple’s development environment that Apple wants all developers to use going forward for iOS 8 apps. Interestingly, it is different to the Xcode 6 GM that Apple published last week, although the nature of the changes are unclear....

Apple is planning a multi-year roadmap for its cross-platform app project. First previewed at last year’s WWDC with the launch of the News, Stocks, Home and Voice Memos app, Marzipan makes it near-automatic for developers to port iPad apps to macOS. A third-party SDK for Marzipan will launch at this year’s WWDC for iPad and Mac universal apps. According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to add Marzipan-esque conversion of iPhone to Mac apps in 2020....

Chart via Apple had another blowout quarter this holiday and set records across the board. iPhones, which many estimated optimistically at 30 million, leapt to over 37 million to create the biggest quarter ever. iPads crossed 15 million for the first time, and even Apple’s venerable Mac line crossed 5 million units for the first time (likely helped by the popular MacBook Air lineup). iPods, if you needed a downside, were off by 20-percent —which is not terrible, because Apple did not upgrade most of the iPods available last Christmas....

Apple today has updated its homepage with a new promotion of “Apple at Work,” which describes how enterprises users can take advantage of iPhone, iPad, and Mac. A new video entitled “The Underdogs” from Apple showcases the various platforms in use. The video focuses on how various Apple hardware products all work together to create a cohesive ecosystem. Apple touts that when people “have the power to work the way they want,” they can change the future of their business....

In addition to watchOS 7 beta 2 and iOS 14 beta 2, Apple today has also released the second developer beta of macOS 11 Big Sur. With everyone expecting the iPhone 8 to feature minimal bezels, a key requirement to realize that vision would be to remove the chin housing the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. While an iris scanner has been rumored as a replacement for fingerprints, Apple is also not short on options for embedding a fingerprint reader into the display. Apple Pay is now available in Iceland for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac users. In a somewhat-unexpected launch, Apple Pay is now live with Arion and Landsbankinn. If you have a credit or debit card with one of those banks, head to the Wallet app to add your card … As the service is still rolling out, you may need to restart your iPhone to force the Wallet app to refresh and present the set up Apple Pay screens....
