Apple has started sending out OS X Yosemite builds for Beta Program, as announced yesterday. The build is being sent out to a million Beta Program members. Participants can get a redemption code from the site, to redeem in the Mac App Store. Apple has said that Apple will not update the Beta Program Yosemite builds as often as the developer seeds (which come out every two weeks, usually), but participants will be able to upgrade to the final public version of Yosemite seamlessly through the App Store, when it is released....

Apple CEO Tim Cook today informed staff that it is “likely” the majority of teams won’t be back in offices until June of 2021 at the earliest. This comes as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to worsen in many parts of the world. As first reported by Bloomberg, Cook’s comments came during a virtual town hall with employees earlier today. Apple Pay is now accepted at an additional 5,000+ online stores in Denmark, Finland and Sweden … Apple’s mobile wallet service first came to the three Nordic countries in October of last year, initially to physical stores. Online payments followed as ecommerce payment providers adopted Apple Pay, and a deal between payment service provider Quickpay and online payment specialist Clearhaus now brings the facility to thousands more web stores. Clearhaus said that Apple Pay offers the quickest possible checkout service to customers....

As Apple gets serious about creating quality original content, the company is reportedly eyeing a new production headquarters in West LA to house the effort. Real estate website The Real Deal reported this week that Apple wants to lease an 85,000-square-foot space that happens to be around the corner from its Beats headquarters in Culver City. The Real Deal notes that the property will go for $3.83 million/year and will be ready for a tenant at the beginning of next year — just in time for Apple to start spending its reported billion dollar budget on original content....

Apple has removed over 30,000 applications from the App Store in China, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The report cites new data from Qimai Research Institute, and it explains that games accounted for 90% of the app removals. Apple removed many of the apps overnight, with the peak occurring around 4:15 a.m. local time when Apple detected over 2,000 applications from the App Store. The majority of the 30,000 deletions occurred between 3 a....

Apple previewed its new virtual debit card and person-to-person payment feature called Apple Pay Cash back at WWDC in June, but the feature wasn’t present in iOS 11 and watchOS 4 betas over the summer. Apple shared the final version of iOS 11.0 and watchOS 4.0 with testers last week, and Apple Pay Cash was still not enabled. Now Apple has acknowledged the missing feature and shared an update for when we can expect to see it ship....

Belgian paper De Tijd is reporting that Apple Pay is launching in Belgium in November, initially for customers of BNP Paribas Fortis. The report says that it will initially be exclusive to the leading bank. Alongside VISA and MasterCard payment cards from Fortis, the initial rollout may include subsidiaries Hello Bank and Fintro. It wouldn’t be the first time a mobile wallet rollout in Belgium has initially been exclusive to Fortis – the same happened with Android Pay back in March 2017....

Apple today released the official trailer for its next original movie, CODA. Apple TV+ will release the film on August 13, alongside a limited theatrical release. CODA first debuted as part of the 2021 Sundance film festival. At Sundance, the film was warmly received and it was awarded the Grand Jury prize. Shortly after announcing that its pro photography app Aperture is being discontinued, Apple released a number of updates to its remaining professional desktop applications. Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on OS X all received updates via the Mac App Store today. Apple is planning to build an additional “tactical datacenter” at its facility in Maiden, North Carolina, according to a report by the Hickory Daily Record. The new building will be smaller than the previous addition, coming in at only 14,246 square feet, and will house additional server hardware along with new offices. The previously-constructed “tactical datacenter” is around 21,000 square feet. The datacenter is powered by a combination of solar energy from a 100-acre solar farm and a much smaller biogas fuel cell installation nearby....

After announcing the availability of a new Pride Edition Woven Nylon Band and watch face at this past week’s WWDC keynote, Apple is promoting the new products and Pride Month in select retail stores. The new Apple Watch band and face first became officially available on Monday, when orders opened online and the custom face was unlocked for all Apple Watch owners immediately following the WWDC keynote. Excitement over Apple’s new MacBook Pro announcements has been weakened a bit in the UK customers due to sticker shock when looking at the prices. Prices for new MacBook Pro’s have risen in the US a bit already, in the UK this has been amplified by the weak GBP currency following the Brexit vote. Apple has adjusted UK prices for its entire line of Macs, including those it didn’t update, with prices increases of hundreds of pounds....

Apple has just seeded a new developer build of iOS 8.3. The beta can be downloaded on Apple’s developer website. iOS 8.3 beta 2 was released just over two weeks ago. Apple also released a new 10.10.3 build today with Force Touch APIs. There are also new developer seeds for Xcode and Apple TV. Previous betas of iOS 8.3 have shown that the release will include new features like wireless CarPlay, more diverse Emojis, a new Emoji keyboard for input, tweaked login for Google services as well as support for Apple Pay in China....

Apple has released macOS 10.12.2 beta 2 for Mac. The new update follows the initial macOS 10.12.2 beta at the end of October, followed by a slightly updated build earlier this month. Today’s build has version 16C41b, up from 16C32f, and is available from the Mac App Store. macOS 10.12.2 includes Unicode 9.0 emoji support, which matches compatibility in beta versions of iOS 10.2 and watchOS 3.1.1. macOS 10.12.2 will be released to everyone in the future, and the beta allows developers to test pre-release versions of the software update before it’s released....

Apple has added a new addition to its W1 lineup, the Beats Studio 3 over-ear headphones ($349). The new models utilize the W1 chip for automatic pairing to iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch as well as boasting up to 40 hour battery life. These look very much like Beats’ answer to the Bose QC35 headphones. The other flagship new addition for the Studio 3 series is adaptive noise cancelling. The headphones listen dynamically to the surrounding environment and algorithmically adjust the intensity of noise cancellation....

Apple is continuing to take advantage of low interest rates and bond sales to fund its giant stock buyback program. The Financial Times reports that Apple is preparing its third bond sale of the year to the tune of $7 billion: Apple has already announced a $12 billion bond program in February as well as a $1 billion bond sale in Taiwan last month. Apple has previously done bonds in the US, Japan and Australia to avoid repatriating overseas funds at higher-than-desired tax rates....

Apple today released an update for Final Cut Pro X that addresses a couple of annoying bugs that some users may have been experiencing. Version 10.4.2 of Final Cut Pro X arrives three weeks after version 10.4.1, a major update that brought about new features like closed captioning workflows and ProRes RAW support. Version 10.4.2 addresses two specific bugs that may have plagued some users: Bug fix number one fixes an issue related to selecting multiple clips on the timeline using the Shift key or when using a marquee selection....
