Apple is releasing a new iOS 13 developer build today. The release comes just under one week since the last round of iOS 13 beta releases. Interestingly, Apple has labeled this week’s release as iOS 13.1 developer beta, suggesting that beta testing iOS 13 has ended. watchOS 6 developer beta 9 is available and labeled as such. Apple’s public beta builds should follow at a later date after the latest developer beta has been tested in the wild....

Apple has released the first public beta version of iOS 10.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Previously only available to registered developers for testing, iOS 10.2 includes several upcoming features like Unicode 9.0 emoji, iPhone 7 wallpapers, and new camera features. Apple’s public beta program is free to participate in unlike its paid developer program. iOS 10.2 will be released to everyone in the future, and the public beta allows more users to test pre-release versions of the software update before it’s finalized....

What’s New in the iOS 11.2.5 Update and Should You Upgrade? The previous 11.2.2 release focused primarily on fixing the CPU vulnerability called Spectre. Version 11.2.5 is more of a feature prep for the upcoming HomePod stereo, along with bug fixes for Mail, Messages, and CarPlay. Users can now ask Siri to play news from sources such as CNN, NPR or Fox News but only for the US, UK, and Australia at this time....

Just as Apple announced at its iPad & Mac event last Thursday, iOS 8.1 is now publicly available with new features including Apple Pay, iCloud Photo Library, and additional Continuity features. Apple Pay is available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users for making payments for purchases with the new iPhone rather than a physical credit card in supported retail stores and apps; iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 users will be able to use Apple Pay within supported apps as well....

Apple today is releasing watchOS 6.1 to the public after developer beta testing. The update includes performance improvements, and brings watchOS 6 to the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2. Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 were excluded from the initial release of watchOS 6 last month. At the time, Apple said the update would come sometime in the fall. A brief Digitimes report suggests that Taiwan is one of the next countries in line to get Apple Pay, possibly by the end of the year. Four banks are expected to support the service … Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission has started accepting applications from banks for providing Apple Pay mobile payment services and Taiwan users will be able to apply for using Apply Pay at the end of 2016 at the earliest....

Apple’s next plans to expand its data centers in the U.S. are for a facility to be built in Waukee, Iowa. Following this morning’s release of the delayed AirPods, Apple has published a new usage guide for the Apple AirPods. The guide drills down into the basics of setting up and using the new AirPods out of the box. With iOS 10, Apple introduced a new system of pairing their Bluetooth headsets that included the new W1 chip. Instead of going through the traditional Bluetooth settings to pair the AirPods, simply opening the AirPods’ charging case next to the iPhone while the phone is unlocked will being the pairing process....

Apple has just released beta 1 of macOS Sierra 10.12.4 and it comes with one particular headline feature, it brings the same Night Shift feature seen on iOS to the Mac for the first time. This means Mac users can now set a schedule to have their display colors slowly shift hues over time, displaying less blue light as night time approaches. Apple today released a brand new app for iOS devices called Music Memos that allows songwriters to quickly and easily record audio and develop song ideas. Apple’s press release for the new app notes that Music Memos was inspired by the fact that many musicians have long used the iOS Voice Memos app as a way of quickly capturing ideas in audio on their iPhones and iPads: So like Apple’s old Voice Memos app, you can quickly start recording snippets of audio, but the Music Memos app adds in features for musicians including automatic notation so you can see the chords you’re playing....
