After several preview releases to testers, Apple has pushed yet another OS X 10.10.2 build to pre-release Yosemite testers through the Updates section of the Mac App Store. Previous builds of the Mac operating system focused on improving bugs with WiFi, Mail, and VoiceOver, and this pre-release seed is no exception. We’ll update our coverage with what we find in the latest pre-release seed. Following the event today, Apple has not released any new hardware but it has rebranded the 2015 fourth-generation Apple TV as the Apple TV HD. The set-top box, formerly known as simply ‘Apple TV’, now has a better name that it distinguishes it from the newer Apple TV 4K. With the introduction of the Apple TV+ original content offering, Apple now has four products that start with the name ‘Apple TV’....

It is a fact that all mobile phones emit a certain level of radiation. Yes, even the iPhone. That’s why a company named tawkon developed an application to measure the amount of radiation coming through your iPhone. According to the company the application was praised by Apple executives for its graphically appealing design, use of non-private APIs, and overall functionality. The problem is that it was still rejected. This is not the first time an application was given a blessing from an Apple executive then still rejected (think Google Voice)....

Update: 12/14: Public beta versions of iOS and tvOS 11.2.5 are now available as well. Apple has released new beta versions of iOS, watchOS, and tvOS for developers to test. iOS 11.2.5, watchOS 4.2.2, and tvOS 11.2.5 are all available now. We’ll update to the latest versions and note any changes below. The new betas come hours after the release of iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1 for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV....

Four days after releasing the third beta version, Apple has released the fourth iOS 11.1 beta for iPhone and iPad. iOS 11.1 beta includes the return of 3D Touch gestures for multitasking as well as hundreds of new emoji characters including “Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person, Breastfeeding, Zombie” and plenty more. Apple has also released the fourth beta version of watchOS 4.1 beta with Apple Music and Radio streaming. We’ll be looking for Apple Pay Cash which has recently been in testing as well as any other new features in the latest iOS 11....

Apple has just started seeding watchOS 3.1 beta 3 to developers today. Those looking to grab the new release can head over to the Watch app on their iPhones, select General and then Software Update. The watchOS 3.1 beta is available to download as a Configuration Profile from the Apple developer center for newer users looking to test out the upcoming system. While it sounds a bit too early, as several previous leaks pointed to an October launch, the date does aligns with a recent 9to5Mac’s report which saw the event happening in mid-September. The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg also have now corroborated with a few of their own sources and are now claiming that September 9 is indeed when the next iPhones will be unveiled. As for the date, September 9 is an auspicious day for the Cupertino giant....

Apple has updated its general construction schedule for its new Campus 2 site, pushing back its estimated end date for building construction by three months and noting the start of landscaping work expected to last into the second quarter of next year. Apple’s previous construction schedule listed an expected end date for building construction and street utility work as the end of Q3 of this year. The updated schedule extends that three months until the start of 2017....

Sources close to Apple’s manufacturing and supply chain (via DIGITIMES) claim Apple, along with others from the “non-Apple camp”, is prepping to produce devices that include curved glass, specifically touchscreens, in early 2012. The report notes that other companies were expected to use curved cover glass in “attempts to gain a competitive edge” over Apple in the current iPhone and iPad dominated smarpthone and tablet markets. We’ve certainly heard of the company’s plans for curved glass in Apple’s retail stores and their new spaceship campus, but only heard rumors and speculation regarding possible consumer product applications....

Apple has released the first iOS 11.1 beta for developer testing on iPhone and iPad. We’ll update with what changes are included as soon as the new releases are installed on our devices. Features we’ll be watching for include Apple Pay Cash, AirPlay 2, and Messages in iCloud which were all announced but not included in iOS 11.0. Apple has also released watchOS 4.1, tvOS 11.1, and macOS High Sierra 10....

As expected, Apple just released iOS 6.1.2 with a fix for the Exchange bug in iOS 6.1 that we previously reported. The 107mb update is available OTA and comes with build number 10B146 .We reported earlier this month that AOL had informed its corporate employees via email that it would temporarily disable the ability to manage meetings with Exchange on iOS devices running iOS 6.1. AOL confirmed it was working with Microsoft and Apple to fix the “continuous loop” bug, and many had highlighted the problem on Microsoft’s forums....

Apple today released iPadOS 13.1 for iPad. Head to Settings -> General -> Software Update to get the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system for your tablet. Also, Apple’s latest iPad is shipping tomorrow, with iPadOS. iPadOS includes all of the same features as iOS 13 like Dark Mode, the redesigned Photos experience, Messages profiles, and a new Reminders app. iPadOS also boasts some tablet-exclusive changes like updates to the Home screen, new multitasking capabilities, and much more…...

Alongside macOS High Sierra 10.13.3, released today, Apple has also issued Security Update 2018-001 for macOS Sierra and macOS El Capitan. This update also fixes other serious security vulnerabilities, including an issue that could cause an application to run arbitrary code using kernel privileges by exploiting a vulnerability on the IOHIDFamily API. It also patches an issue that could lead to arbitrary code execution when playing a malicious sound file....

Today, just in time for the Super Bowl, Apple uploaded two variations of that ad, “Light Verse” and “Sound Verse”, both shortened versions of the original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MghxMfFgoXQ While both 30 second spots have a similar feel to the original 90 second ad, they feature different, original imagery mixed in along with what was seen in the first Your Verse spot....

Apple has started sending out push notification reminders to users who are eligible to redeem a free year of Apple TV+, but have not yet done so. The notification reads: “Expiring Soon: Your Free of Apple TV+”. Apple is also sending out email alerts in the same vein. As a reminder of the terms of the free Apple TV+ deal, customers must activate the one year free trial within 3 months of activating their newly purchased device....

Apple is releasing a new developer beta of iOS 13.6 today. This follows last week’s release of an iOS 13.5.5 beta to developers and public beta users. Apple is renaming the beta and referring to today’s release as iOS 13.6 beta 2. [Update: Now available for public beta users as well.] This is not the first time Apple has changed the numbering of a beta iOS release. Just last month, we jumped from iOS 13....

Re/code reports that Apple will hold its October event, featuring iPads, on October 16th. According to John Paczkowski, the event will feature updates to Apple’s iPad line, OSX 10.10 Yosemite as well as the new Retina iMacs that we reported on earlier this week. Mac mini updates would be nice too. The event will also feature Yosemite, assumedly the OS will be released soon after the event, if Apple follows historic patterns....

Apple is set to bring Apple Pay, its mobile wallet service, to China using a partnership with China UnionPay. @KhaosT on Twitter found references to the credit card type in iOS 8 code and now MarketWatch is corroborating with sources that a deal is in the works. Apple announced Apple Pay as a US only service, coming to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in October with a software update....

Alongside the launch of iOS 7, Apple has raised the limit for an application file size that could be downloaded over a cellular network via the App Store. The new limit is 100MB, and that is double the previous limit of 50MB (via MacRumors). Back in 2008, the App Store launched with a 10MB cap, but as iOS devices gained new features such as 3G, LTE, and Retina Displays, Apple has been raising the limits....

Early today, Apple started rolling out a new Music Videos section to the Music app on iOS. The feature acts as a home for music videos for Apple Music subscribers, aggregating the best and most recent video content. Now, the new Music Video section is coming to desktop with iTunes 12.7.4… Apple this evening has released iTunes 12.7.4 to users, bringing the new Music Video section to the desktop. Apple touts that this makes for a “new music video experience for Apple Music....
