Apple today released an updated version of Logic Pro X with optimizations for the upcoming new Mac Pro. The updated version of Logic Pro includes support for up to 56 processing threads with up to 5x the number of real-time plug-ins when using the new Mac Pro compared to the previous generation machine. Apple first announced that it would have a new version of Logic Pro during WWDC last week when it used the app to demo the performance power of its new Mac Pro coming out later this year....

Following the release of macOS 10.13, iOS 11, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11 betas, Apple has released a newly updated version of its macOS Human Interface Guidelines. These design guidelines help designers and developers alike to build out applications that follow models based on Apple’s recommendations. While not everything in the guidelines needs to be strictly adhered to, it helps designers understand Apple’s ideals and to create cohesion across the platform....

Our colleagues over at 9to5Google have regularly reported on a new standard referred to as Rich Communications Services – or RCS. Touted as an upgraded version of SMS, RCS is being spearheaded by the carriers, Microsoft, and Google. Now, it appears that Apple also might be involved in RCS, at least in some capacity. On Reddit, a slide from an October GSMA event has surfaced. The GSMA is a trade body representing mobile network operators....

Apple has seemingly decided to crack down on antivirus and antimalware apps, removing them from the App Store. Although there has been no official statement from Apple on a policy change, Apple’s loose guidelines allow them to pull pretty much anything at any time, particularly something like antivirus which has questionable utility within the sandboxed iOS environment of iPhones and iPads. One casualty of the removal is Intego’s VirusBarrier, which claims that this takedown was not specific to its product with Apple deciding the entire category of antivirus products is now off-limits....

Following the addition of eight additional card issuers and banks earlier this month, Apple has updated its list of supported institutions and card types to include 15 more credit unions and banks. These new banks are listed as supporting Apple Pay as of today: -A+ Federal Credit Union -Amegy Bank of Texas -America First Credit Union -Bethpage Federal Credit Union -California Bank & Trust -Connex Credit Union -Goldenwest FCU -Huntington Bank -KeyPoint Credit Union -Meijer Credit Union -National Bank of Arizona -Nevada State Bank -TCF National Bank -The Bank of Greene County -Vectra Bank -Zions First National Bank...

Apple has added dozens of new banks and credit unions to its list of institutions that support its Apple Pay mobile payment service. The new banks include several credit unions from around the United States as well as Charles Schwab Bank, RBC Bank, and other notable additions. The more than 30 banks added today are rolling out ahead of next month’s Apple Watch launch which will support making Apple Pay payments in stores....

According to a new report from GigaOM, Apple is planning to build a new solar panel farm in Reno, Nevada in conjunction with NV Energy. Reno is also where Apple’s latest data center is located. The company already has two similar-sized solar farms in North Carolina to power its data center there, but this is the company’s first in Nevada. The solar farm, dubbed “Ft. Churchill Solar Array,” will be able to proved between 18 to 20 MW in power, which is about the same as its plants in North Carolina, which both put out 20 MW in size....

After Tim Cook recently claimed at an environmental conference that its new ‘Spaceship’ headquarters would be “the greenest building on the planet,” Apple today provided (via Business Insider) a few illustrative facts and figures to support the claim. This includes recycling all of the concrete from its present headquarters to form part of the foundations of the new campus. Trees cleared from the construction site are being turned into lumber for use in the building....

Following its notification of the upcoming release, Apple has seeded the first build of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 to developers. It is build number 12C31a, and Apple says to focus on Facebook, Messages, Game Center, and Reminders. Yesterday Apple released tvOS 9.1 for the new fourth-gen Apple TV which adds support for the Remote app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch just like the previous Apple TV model. This makes setup and text input much easier from iPhones and iPads as you can use the software keyboard versus relying on swiping left and right across a keyboard, but many have wondered if Apple would update the Remote app to offer features more like the new Siri Remote for Apple TV....

Another week, another privacy scandal – and no prizes for guessing which company it involves. There is, though, a lesson for Apple in all this. We could get into the weeds with all of the Facebook stuff. Some of what has happened has been exaggerated, and the company’s single biggest privacy crime has been failing to prevent sketchy behavior by third-party companies. But I’m not going to get into that. The bottom line is that when you run a platform on which people share often very personal information, you have a huge responsibility to take the utmost care to protect that data, and Facebook has failed miserably to do so....

Surprisingly, Apple has just released the first iOS 14.7 beta to developers even before iOS 14.6 became available to the public. Apple has also released watchOS 7.6 beta and tvOS 14.7 beta. We don’t yet know what’s new in today’s updates. Update May 20: Apple is now releasing the first public beta of iOS 14.7 to registered users. The iOS 14.6 RC was released to developers and public beta users on Monday with some new features, including Apple Card Family, paid subscriptions to Apple Podcasts, improved support for AirTags, and bug fixes....

Apple, just hours after it confirmed issues relating to iOS 9.3 on the iPad 2, has released a new build of the operating system for the device. Carrying build number 13E236, the update appears to be rolling out to iPad 2 users now. Presumably, it’s the same build that was released to everyone earlier this week, just with the activation issues fixed. This new build of iOS 9.3 for the iPad 2 is 13E236, while the version released earlier this week was 13E234 on iPhone and 13E233 on iPad....

Following the release of the second beta last week, Apple today has released the third developer beta of macOS Catalina 10.15.1. The update includes changes such as new emoji and new Siri privacy settings. The latest macOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta is available now to developers via the System Preferences application. macOS Catalina 10.15.1 focuses primary on bug fixes and performance improvements, with two other notable changes. For one, there are new Siri privacy settings....

An app meant to keep readers informed about the Qanon conspiracy theory has been removed from the App Store. As first reported by NBC News, the “QDrops” application would send users alerts for new developments in the theory, but was pulled by Apple on grounds of violations of its App Store Guidelines… QDrops, developed by a “husband and wife team” from North Carolina, originally launched on iOS back in April and peaked at No....

Following reports that said Apple had begun manufacturing the next-generation iPhone in late June, a new report by the Wall Street Journal is oloorroborating the story. It says that Apple is asking suppliers to produce a record number of ‘iPhone 6S’ units for the upcoming fall launch, topping 90 million units by the end of the year. Apple sold 74.5 million iPhones in the equivalent quarter in 2014, spurred by the success of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus....

Back in 2009, we reported that Apple was working on a Radio app for the iPhone. Today Patently Apple reports that Apple has patented a Radio.app. As you can see in the image above, the iPhone mockup on the right is displaying your traditional radio app with presets and song info. The image on the left is where things get interesting. The iPhone on the left is displaying a map with your location along with all the nearby radio towers....

Many readers have been wondering when Apple Pay Cash will launch in the UK and other European countries. It’s today being suggested that the launch could be close, with hints from several different European countries … Apple Pay Cash Sightings French site iPhone.fr reports that one its readers was prompted to set up a card for use with Apple Pay Cash. The same option has been spotted in Belgium, Italy, Switzerland and the UK also....

Update: The date in the file has moved a day forward. We know you are just rooting through iOS Beta 5 now, but we’re think we’ve cracked the OTA update date code. Apple plans to release their next developer seed of iOS 5, Beta 6, on Thursday, August 18th according to some codes a few developers sent our way. The sources, who provided us with the exact date and time of today’s iOS 5 beta 5 release (which we were skeptical of – because it was a Saturday), warns that because we are still days away from the planned release, the seeding can be delayed due to bugs or other reasons out of our control....

Apple’s head of iTunes Eddy Cue is live on stage during Apple’s WWDC 2013 keynote presentation today and just unveiled a brand new, revamped version of Siri that includes a lot of new features on top of a redesign that fits in with the rest of the new look for iOS 7. It also announced a new service dubbed “iOS in the car” that will bring more functionality to the consoles of some vehicles through a partnership with several car manufacturers....
