Update to iOS 7.1.2
To make sure you get the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update and download the update. On my iPad mini with Retina display (16 GB version), I wasn’t able to install it at first because it needs 1.5 GB of storage space available. If this happens to you, tap on Usage Settings, and you’ll get a list of all the apps installed on your device and the amount of space they are taking.
Of course I found a ton of apps that I never use, and went through and cleaned house. I am sure many of you can relate…you install an app, use it once, then completely forget about it. Games are normally the biggest culprits when it comes to space taken up. Although, notice that certain “essential apps” do take up a good chunk of space. Office for iPad for example and even GarageBand.
Here’s a basic list of features in the update provided by Apple: If you want even more information about the update and all that it gives you, make sure to check out this Apple page. Comment
