Apple Pay Launches In Spain With Banco Santander As Predicted Other Cards Too

Apple Pay has officially launched in Spain, as predicted in a report yesterday. The service is now available to customers of Banco Santander, with support for both debit and credit cards, alongside cards issued by Amex, Carrefour and Ticket Restaurant.

Apple lists 27 retail partners on its website, but with excellent support for contactless payments in the country, Santander said that Apple Pay can be used in around 75% of Spanish stores. It can also be used for online purchases on a range of websites …

This brings the total number of Apple Pay countries to 13: Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and USA.

“Apple Pay shows we are committed to collaborate and to bring innovation and new technology to our customers to make their payments easier, faster and more secure,” said Rami Aboukhair, country head of Santander Spain. “We are convinced our customers will love it.”

In addition to the Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad, owners of the 2016 MacBook Pro can also use the new Touch ID button to authorize Apple Pay transactions online.
